The media company PRO PLUS was established in 1995 as a joint venture of two Slovenian television stations and the company Central European Media Enterprises (CME), a European media corporation and one of the first investors in local commercial television projects in Central and Eastern Europe. The international involvement of the company PRO PLUS in the CME group assures its development in accordance with the latest technological and programming trends of the global media sphere.

    The company PRO PLUS launches its commercial channel POP TV.

  • 1996

    POP TV becomes the top television channel in Slovenia with independent and credible news and a rich choice of foreign programmes.

  • 1997

    In October PRO PLUS launches its television channel named Gajba TV.

    For the first time POP TV broadcasts the finals of the Miss Slovenia contest, the contest for Miss World and the presentation of the awards for achievements on the media field (Viktors).

  • 1998

    The news programme 24UR gets a new design and starts 15 minutes earlier (at 19.15).

    POP TV organizes the visit of Esmeralda (actress Leticia Calderon) in Slovenia.

  • 1999

    PRO PLUS launches a daily on-line newspaper 24ur.com.

    The series "TV Dober dan" (TV Good Day) on POP TV immediately becomes a hit.

  • 2000

    In October POP TV merges with Kanal A, the oldest and second rated commercial television channel in Slovenia, which was established in 1991.

    POP TV introduces the licensed quiz show “Lepo je biti milijonar” (Who Wants to be a Millionaire), which becomes the most popular entertainment show in Slovenia.

    Kanal A launches the first tabloid infotainment show in Slovenia – Extra Magazine.

    POP TV introduces a new news format “Preverjeno!” (Confirmed!), which immediately changes the traditional attitudes towards news programmes observed on the state-owned television channel.

    POP TV and Kanal A transmit the matches of the World Football Championship 2002.

    POP TV launches a new news programme “Trenja” (Frictions).

    The show Popstars on Kanal A becomes the hit of the year.

    The central news programme on POP TV is supplemented with the evening news “24UR ZVEČER” (24HOURS AT NIGHT).

    MOTO GP races are transmitted live.

    POP TV starts broadcasting the first reality show in nature “Kmetija” (The Farm).

    The reality shows Big Brother on Kanal A and The Farm on POP TV present their new seasons.

    POP TV starts broadcasting the cooking show “DESETKA” (PERFECT 10).

    A special weather forecast “24UR VREME” (24HOURS WEATHER) is launched on POP TV.

    A sitcom “Svingerji” (Swingers) can be watched on Kanal A.

    An entertainment show “TV Tuba” (TV Tube) is introduced.

    POP TV starts broadcasting the sitcom “Lepo je biti sosed” (It’s Nice to be a Neighbour).

    Kanal A starts broadcasting the sport programmes “Gremo na smuči” (Let’s Go Skiing) and Autosterone, as well as the entertainment show “Ljubo doma” (Sweet Sweet Home).

    The web portal Vizita.si is launched.

    Poptv.si – a new design of the first non-linear television emerges.

    The first linear television maxtv.si is also launched.

    Kanal A starts broadcasting the matches of the Champions League.

    POP TV broadcasts the reality show The Celebrities Farm.

    POP TV introduces the cooking show “Ljubezen skozi želodec” (Love Through Stomach).

    Considering all Slovenian television channels, POP TV is the most trusted brand among the Slovenian viewers, and receives the Trusted Brand award for 2009.

    The web portals Moškisvet.com, Dominvrt.si, Osvajalec.si and 321gremo.si are launched.

    POP TV introduces two reality shows, “Slovenija ima talent” (Slovenia’s Got Talent) and Celebrities Big Brother.

    A new television channel POP BRIO joins the Slovenian media sphere.

    The news programmes on POP TV are expanded with “24UR OB ENIH” (24HOURS AT ONE).

    Kanal A introduces the entertainment show Poker Stars and the sports programme Auto.info.

    The video on demand service (S-VOD) – POP PLUS is introduced.

    POP BRIO starts broadcasting the reality show Supermodel Slovenia.

  • 2011

    For the fourth consecutive year, the viewers choose POP TV for the most trusted brand among TV stations (Trusted Brand 2011).

    POP TV broadcasts the game show Minuta do zmage (Minute to Win It), a new humoristic series Trdoglavci (Headnuts), a new season of the show Slovenia's Got talent and the reality show in nature Kmetija išče lastnika (The Farms Seeks its Owner). The News prepares the project Elections 2011.

    Kanal A enriches its news programming with a talk show WORLD: MAGNIFICATION, a new spectacular season of the UEFA Champions League and live transmissions of MOTO GP races. The viewers can watch a new sports programme Volan (Steering Wheel).

    The news programmes on POP TV and Kanal A have efficiently introduced the most sophisticated technologies, which allow the users direct participation in creation of the programming. During pre-election confrontations, POP TV was the first TV station in Slovenia to provide its viewers with a possibility to comment the events in the studio on Twitter.

    The web portals Okusno.je and Svetiger.com were launched, while 24ur.com presented a new design to its users.

    The web portal 24ur.com is available as a free application for mobile devices, since the development and implementation of the iPhone and iPad application is followed by an application for the most popular operating system, the Android.

    The free application for 24ur.com was followed by the applications for two specialized portals, namely Moškisvet.com and Zadovoljna.si.

    An upgraded S-VOD (video on demand) called VOYO comes to live. It is a personal treasury with locally produced video contents (POP TV, Kanal A, POP NON STOP), foreign films, series and sport programmes, exclusive reality shows, concerts. Users can choose their favourite video contents and watch them at any time and any place – on a portable computer, on television.

    The existing applications for iPad and iPhone of the company PRO PLUS were added an application for VOYO, transferring all the advantages of such web services to iPhone and iPad.

    PRO PLUS launches the first Slovenian subscription package called POP NON STOP. It offers six channels: POP KINO, POP KINO2, POP BRIO, POP FANI, POP OTO and POP SPOT. POP BRIO broadcasts the premiere of the Slovenian drama with the title On Therapy.

    For the fifth consecutive year, the viewers choose POP TV for the most trusted brand among TV stations (Trusted Brand 2012).

    POP TV broadcasts a new reality show X-Factor, new humoristic series Perfect Ten, new international game Eurojackpot, in autumn a new reality show Restaurant Looking for a Boss and a new documentary Around the World into the Heart.

    24HOURS(24UR) is drawing boundaries again. An updated weather forecast is being presented to the viewers in the latest technology. The central studio has also been upgraded with the latest »touchscreen« technology.

    The News editors of 24UR prepare the Presidential Elections project. A new element of confrontations is the opinion of social network users, applying the new PerceptionAnalytics platform for the first time in Slovenia to present public opinion indicators live. The result is expressed as a political index.

    Moto GP live transmissions on Kanal A and VOYO are expanded to all three classes.

    VOYO is available for all devices - personal computer, as an application on smart phones and tablettes for the most popular mobile operation systems iOS, Android and Windows Phone; furthermore, the application VOYO is also available for Philips and Samsung smart TVs. The VOYO library has also richer contents, for example exclusive SKI Cross live transmissions are provided.

    The development of the free application 24ur.com was followed by the development of mobile applications for selected portals. For the operation system iOS (applications for 24ur.com, VOYO, Moškisvet.com, Zadovoljna.si), Android (applications for 24ur.com, VOYO) and Windows (applications for 24ur.com and VOYO). Mobile websites are available for the portals 24ur.com, Bibaleze.si, Okusno.je, Moškisvet.com, Zadovoljna.si and Dominvrt.si.

    For the media company PRO PLUS the year 2013 shall be remembered for its strongest and most extensive local production ever.

    POP TV adds to the most popular show Slovenia's Got Talent (3rd season) its own entertaining programme format called Vid and Pero Show, which successfully continues in autumn. In spring a new cooking show with the title Ana's Cooking and the programme Beware, Good Dog are launched and continue with new seasons in autumn. Cooking is also the subject of the shows Buttered American Style and Taste Without Borders. The autumn on POP TV is known for two successful company formats - the spiciest reality show Restaurant Looking for a Boss (2nd season) and a new show called Je bella cesta.

    In autumn Kanal A airs a new reality show Top 4 with Tjaša Kokalj. Live transmissions of MOTO GP races continue.

    The media company PRO PLUS crowned the autumn 2013 with a new project, in which famous television personalities are presented in a different way and light, which the viewers are not used to see. The resulting project was named More than picture. In the campaign "Because we want answers" the journalists of 24UR received more than 1,500 questions and openly spoke about numerous issues.

    VOYO continues to gain new subscribers; only one month after the USA premiere the most successful series in the world House of Cards was brought to Slovenia. In addition to the regular offer of films, series, telenovels and cartoons, every month subscribers are offered exclusive video contents, such as Restaurant Looking for a Boss LIVE 24/7, live sport transmissions, previews and stories from the backstage of local hits. The number of visitors of web portals has also been growing. The thematic channels BRIO, OTO and KINO are consolidating their position among minor TV stations.

  • 2015

    PRO PLUS sees record-breaking levels of in-house production in 2015!

    Spring on POP TV began in style with the second season of the show YOUR FACE SOUNDS FAMILIAR, hosted by Denis Avdič. Every Sunday, the show broke viewer rating records and at the same time fascinated all generations through its charitable approach. On the other hand, Mondays on POP TV became synonymous with the show WISHES. The show, hosted by Peter Poles, made viewers' wishes come true and became the highest-rated show broadcast on Mondays. Springtime passed-by with the search for the perfect couple in the show PERFECT WEDDING, which conjured up a romantic atmosphere every Saturday night.

    Slovenia also received its own version of MASTERCHEF (MASTERCHEF SLOVENIJA), which became the battleground for exciting culinary creations in Spring on POP TV. The latest fourth season of RESTAURANT'S LOOKING FOR A BOSS began airing in the Autumn, this time offering the highest prize ever of 100,000 euros and a car, and offered viewers a variety of intriguing twists and turns. On Sundays, the new season of SLOVENIA'S GOT TALENT got stellar viewer ratings, and provided entertainment for all generations with its new judge, Lado Bizovičar.

    In late Autumn, POP TV began airing the completely new format CELEBRITY ROAST WITH LADO BIZOVIČAR, in which Lado Bizovičar roasted Jan Plestenjak and himself. In 2016, two additional parts aired on POP TV. All shows reached record viewer ratings and are considered among the top 5 shows of 2015. In the Autumn, the brand new Slovenian series TASTE OF LOVE began airing weekdays on POP TV. The show's excellent cast ensured entertaining weekday evenings and set new milestones for Slovenian production standards.

    In the autumn, the TOP 4 WITH TJAŠA KOKALJ reality format searched for successful business women. The Spring show GARDENING and the Autumn and culinary delicacies POLONA'S ON FIRE and HEALTHY WITH TEREZA were the icing on the cake that was year with the richest in-house production in the history of POP TV.

    With the shows PREVERJENO and EPILOG and the 24UR primetime daily news show, POP TV continued to establish new milestones and reporting standards. 24UR also provided the audience with a new Saturday segment entitled 24UR: Inspector.

    Kanal A continued to broadcast MOTO GP motorcycle races. It continued in this sporting vein with broadcasts of the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, EUROPA LEAGUE AND FIRST LEAGUE OF TELEKOM SLOVENIA matches.

    In the Spring, viewers were able to enjoy the most controversial shows of all time - BIG BROTHER, whose host Ana Marija Mitič ensured that it was anything but dull in front of the TV screens.

    In 2016, PRO PLUS aired the highest-rated show of the past 16 years and broke several records.

    Spring on POP TV began in style with the third season of the show YOUR FACE SOUNDS FAMILIAR , hosted by Denis Avdič. Every Sunday, the show broke viewer rating records and at the same time fascinated all generations through its charitable approach. In spring and autumn 2016, Mondays on POP TV were reserved for the show WISHES . The show, hosted by Peter Poles, made viewers' wishes come true and became the highest-rated show broadcast on Mondays. The shows GARDENING and POLONA'S ON FIRE made sure the weekends were even more fun.

    In the spring, POP TV aired one of the greatest tests of love, BATTLE OF THE COUPLES, hosted by Klemen Bučan. The second season of MASTERCHEF SLOVENIA became the battleground for exciting culinary creations in spring on POP TV. The new show MY MOM COOKS BETTER THAN YOURS hosted by Jan Bučar aired every weekday at 6 p.m.

    CELEBRITY ROAST WITH LADO BIZOVIČAR returned to POP TV in 2016 with two performances. The show with Boris Kobal was a great success, while the Presidential roast became the second highest-rated show in all 16 years our television channels have broadcast.

    In the spring, viewers excellently received the series TASTE OF LOVE. Airing weekdays on POP TV, the show's excellent cast ensured entertaining weekday evenings and set new milestones for Slovenian production standards. Autumn brought a new, third season of the popular series.

    On Sundays, the new season of SLOVENIA'S GOT TALENT got stellar viewer ratings, and provided entertainment for all generations with its new judge, Lado Bizovičar. The winning duo WildArt proved that Slovenia still has a lot of talent. In the autumn, the greatest television adventure of all time, the reality show SURVIVOR, came to POP TV. It was hosted by the extreme sportsman Miran Stanovnik, who is no stranger to adrenaline-filled adventures. For POP TV, the completely new show format START-UP, SLOVENIA!, in which entrepreneurs showcased their products and, together with the show's host Matija Goljar, proved that Slovenians can do many things, was the icing on the cake of the autumn production.

    With the show PREVERJENO and the 24UR primetime daily news show, POP TV continued to establish new milestones and reporting standards. 24UR also provided the audience with a new Saturday segment entitled 24UR: Fokus.

    Kanal A continued to broadcast MOTO GP motorcycle races. It continued in this sporting vein with broadcasts of theCHAMPIONS LEAGUE, EUROPA LEAGUE AND FIRST LEAGUE OF TELEKOM SLOVENIA matches .

    In the spring, viewers were able to enjoy the most controversial show of all time - BIG BROTHER, whose new host Manja Plešnar ensured that it was anything but dull in front of the TV screens.

    VOYO, among its vast contents, released a new educational and entertainment show Alfa Mikić and the showSketchaholics. The thematic channels KINO, BRIO and OTO recorded rapid and sharp growth and were in the Top 30 highest-rated channels in Slovenia.
